Empedrado Main Square

Empedrado Main Square is a must-see for anyone who wants to discover the essence of this corner of Maule. Its origins date back to the colonial period, when it was simply an open space surrounded by trees where local residents played football.

In 1930, subdelegate Otto Jauch transformed it with inspiration from the gardens of Versailles, giving it the distinctive layout it still preserves today.

The square now features native species and inviting corners for walking, resting and enjoying the outdoors. It hosts the municipality’s main traditional festivals, horseback rides and processions, keeping local identity alive in a place where history, community and nature come together.
